Michelle Lemmey has been a teacher at Transfiguration School for the past 18 years. She teaches 5 - 8 grade science and 7th grade religion in addition to being the 7th grade homeroom teacher. She is very happy to call the STEM LAB her home. Laboratory experiments and small group projects are favorite teaching techniques that have continued in spite of social distancing. Testing water quality of local water sources, dissecting frogs, and making a human sundial are all part of the science curriculum.
Mrs. Lemmey has a Bachelor’s of science degree in chemistry from Oneonta State University and a Master’s degree in education from Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry. Before she began her career at Transfiguration School, she taught religious education at St. Augustine School in Ossining and worked as a substitute teacher at St. Augustine’s and also in the Ossining School District for grades Pre-K through high school. Prior to that she worked as a research assistant for Ciba-Geigy Pharmaceuticals in Suffern, NY.
When Mrs. Lemmey is not working, she enjoys cooking, reading, puzzle making and spending time with her husband, seven children, and four year old granddaughter. On weekends she performs her duties as a Eucharistic Minister by bringing communion to the sick and elderly members of the Church in the Ossining area.
